When I was little girl I remember women wearing night hats, but not like the ones they are wearing now. I remember night hats were made of eyelet material, ruffles, sequins , ornaments and in beautiful colors. The women back in the day did not go out in night hats, they wore them at night, and before 12 noon the next day. If they did go out in rollers, a scarf was folded in a triangle and put on, more than likely, a event was in the evening. Now on Saturday, you would put on your night hat a little earlier, because you had just come from the salon, and you had to preserve your hair for Sunday.
But now you see night hats in the store all through the day, night hats carrying children to school, night hats going to work, nights hats doing errands, night hats in the restaurants. . And you have the night hats with the rubber band around the edges of the head and you wondering why your edges are thin. Hair needs to breath or it will get a nasty smell, and you should not wear the same hat out and then go to bed, there is pollution in the air and you are taking them back to your bed. More important it looks bad some women have on 6 inched eyelashes and a night hat , what a sight.
My advise wear a night hat at night, take it off in the daytime. I does more harm than good , hair needs to breath and stays fresher loose than tied up.
